What is your earliest memory of being creative?
I started loving art around the age of 8 - with my dad’s camera.
Who inspired you to become an artist?
My babysitters - my parents’ college friends.
Walk us through the steps you follow for your paintings:
I start with an idea and a thumb size sketch, then I tone my canvas and
reproduce a more detailed sketch. I then block in my colors with the mid tones
then the dark tones and finally the highlights.
What goes through your mind as you're painting?
I start of by being kind to myself, reminding myself that it’s just a white canvas
and there are worse things going on in the world if I make a mistake. I tell myself
I’m creating something for me and if I like it I just might share it.
Do you have a favorite quote about art or creativity?
"Not all flowers bloom at the same time."
How do you set the tone for creativity in your studio?
Flowers, always flowers. Coffee and Emma Peters (the french singer} on
Pandora.
Go-to painting outfit?
My Mechanic’s jumper with the Ghostbusters patch.
Do you have a secret talent or hobby besides painting?
I’m also a Newborn Photographer.
