Marla Gottschalk is a self-taught abstract expressionist artist. She began painting in 2021 with landscape subjects, finding art to be a perfect counter-balance to her work as an organizational psychologist. Always passionate about both art and design, she loves to create pieces that add depth to both traditional and modern settings. 

A native of the Great Lakes region, she is Chicago born and raised in the Detroit Metropolitan area. Summer vacations on the shores of Lake Michigan instilled an appreciation for the beauty of a natural vista. Visions of the horizon over the water and the joy of the first leaves of spring, are always present to guide her work. 

Inspired by the work of J.M.W Turner and Helen Frankenthaler; blended color and a deep connection with emotion are integral to her work. Her ultimate goal is to create art that might help a collector feel both connected and inspired within their own space.
